Internal Security

Internal Security studies are of an interdisciplinary character. The curriculum combines legal, economic, humanistic science and management pertaining to organization and functioning of public administration in Poland. It treats in the most comprehensive manner and relates to the concept and method of counteracting threats in the broadest sense of internal security. Internal Security studies are addressed to people who show their interest in problems of internal security understood in the widest way, and at the same time look at it as a very significant aspect of their life and the life of others. To choose this program on the one hand may mean the choice of one’s own professional career (individual social role of a person), on the other hand – it may constitute an internal challenge in facing modern threats on a local, regional and national scale.

Graduate Profile

Internal Security graduates will have comprehensive skills and competences to legally recognize, fight and counteract internal threats.

They will acquire the basic knowledge of social science, human rights, and the principles of the functioning of the state (political system, distribution of power, structure, tasks and the rules of the functioning of state organs including – the place and role of public administration and other institutions responsible for internal security). They will learn the foundations of extensive legal knowledge regulating spheres connected to internal security, and will also acquire knowledge of internal security connected to the state security system, the crisis management system, security in the broadest sense in different branches (ecological, financial, energy, health security, etc), and the problems of various kinds of crime including terrorism. They will be able to identify, process, analyze and use knowledge and information connected with the negative behaviour of individuals as well as social unrest which constitute a potential threat to internal security. Additionally they will be able to use modern IT and communication systems and also they will become physically fit with elements of tactics, intervention techniques and self-defense. The graduate will be prepared to work in organizational units of public administration of state and local government services responsible for internal security (Police, Internal Security Agency, Border Guards, Government Protection Office, Municipal Police).
